“Silkroad†Winston Lee, a much loved and very spoilt Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, died on the morning of July 14, 2004.
Winston passed away cuddled in my arms at 8am. He was 11 years old. Much loved pet of the Simmons household of East Doncaster, Victoria, especially Rosalie. Winston was her child and soul mate and our younger son’s pal and buddy. He was purchased from a Breeder in 1993.
Our years with Winston were very special and seemed to pass “in the blink of an eye”. We will never get over losing him. He had a heart defect, which was treated over the years by our very caring Vet. However it got the better of him in the end.
“SILKROAD’ WINSTON LEE SIMMONS, 26th May – 14th July, 2004
OUR BELOVED ‘WINNIE’, A BEAUTIFUL CHAMPION WHO GAVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. YOU WILL REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER. REST IN PEACE.
GOODBYE – A POEM
His name is “Silkroad Winston Leeâ€
A beautiful Cavalier, who chose to live with me
Thank you for the days and nights we shared
All the countless ways you showed you cared.
It wasn’t often we were apart
You were – and are my pride and joy
You had many moments when you made me laugh
You were my companion and pal
My “Winnie Bub Bub†and “Daddy’s Little Manâ€,
Loved more than any other puppy dog in the land.
I’ll miss our walks and talks
And patting you with my gentle hand
One look could tell me more than words could say
But just in case your barks made sure I would understand anyway.
Cuddled in my arms so tight
I dearly hoped you wouldn’t lose the fight
But with your eyes filled with love,
You gave us one last look,
And with breath so shallow we had to listen – one last sigh as you said
– Goodbye –
It ended all too soon this life of yours
Never again to hear the pitter patter of your paws,
Or to have you sitting next to me
Or stroke your head before you go to bed
Eleven years have now passed
And death has come and set us apart,
All too soon it came to an end
My time with you my faithful loving friend
My Winston is at rest
We will meet again
Written with love by Rosalie Simmons
